The Algerian sans papiers Yacine has been living in Marseille for ten years, telling his story through poetry. The film is not a faithful account of his biography, but gives voice to his emotions, his worries and his inner world. What emerges is a glimpse of a common destiny.

Charlotte Menin was born in 1980 and grew up in Milan. She graduated from Berlin’s Technische Universität in German and French, and has a diploma in photography, with a social documentary approach. Her work revolves around the theme of migration: Hotel de Ville (2007) on Mali migrants in Paris, Quello che sognano gli altri (2007-­2012). In 2013 she received funding from the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research to work on the documentary Yacine Voices in collaboration with professor Knut Graw, who teaches Anthropology at Loewen University (Belgio).
