A Palestinian family living in the north of Galilee gathers to celebrate the wedding of one of their daughters, in a climate of war. Internal conflicts explode between the different members of the family. The tension grows once their father falls into a coma and inches toward death.

Hiam Abbass was born in Nazareth and grew up in a Palestinian village in north of Galilee. She started acting on stage at the age of 10, and studied photography in Haifa. In 1987 she moves to London and then Paris, where she begins her film career. She became famous for her roles in Lemon Tree (2008) and The Syrian Bride (2004) by Eran Riklis. Before Inheritance, she made two short films: La Danse Eternelle (2003) and Le Pain (2000). She received many awards, such as Best Actress at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (2008) and at the Israeli Film Academy Awards (2008), as well as winning in the Invisible Woman category at the Women Film Critics Circle Awards (2011).
